Indication(s) & Dosage Dysmenorrhoea, Gastrointestinal tract spasm
Adult: 60-120 mg 1-3 times daily. 
Child: >12 yr: 60-120 mg 1-3 times daily.
Contraindications Hypersensitivity, intestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus; children <12 yr.
Special Precautions Pregnancy, lactation.

Absorption: Absorbed from the GI tract after oral admin.
Metabolism: Rapidly metabolised to an active metabolite.
Excretion: Metabolites are excreted in the urine by active renal secretion.

Why do I need Alverine?

Alverine relaxes the stomach muscles. It prevents stomach cramps in conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (also known as IBS). IBS often causes stomach pain, bloating, stomach wind, constipation or diarrhoea, swelling and pain of the large intestine.

It also relaxes the muscle of the womb and is used to treat painful menstruation.

How do I take Alverine?

Take Alverine exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

You may take Alverine with or without food.

What to do if I have forgotten to take Alverine?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

Remember to take your medicine regularly. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor know.

When to not use Alverine?

Alert your doctor if you have paralytic ileus, a condition where part of the gut has failed to function. This might cause blockage of the digestive tract. You should not take Alverine if you have this condition.

What to take note of while taking Alverine?

Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not give Alverine to children unless specifically instructed to do so by the child's doctor.

Alverine is not meant for children younger than 12 years old.

What side effects could appear?

Alverine may cause dizziness. If you feel dizzy, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Alverine may also cause nausea, headache, skin itch and rashes.

Let your doctor know if these side effects bother you or if they do not go away.

Alverine may cause other side effects. Consult your doctor if you have unusual problems while taking Alverine.

How to store Alverine?

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must be used within the expiry date.
